Words from the Head of Airpol closing the working year

First of all thank you all for your participation in our work during 2017. We have had a very good year with a number of high quality activities. I have received a lot of positive remarks about our work in general, in the WG as well as overwhelmingly good reviews of the Plenary Congress in Cyprus. You all heard Commissioner Avramopoulos speech at the Congress which really underlined the importance of the work we conduct but also the expectations and challenges for the future.

We are now entering the new year with Airpol IV. We will continue working both in the WG as well as in some new teams depending on the timing of a few factors. I am pleased to see several new member states notifying interest to take part in the different WG after the Congress. There are still a few seats left if some more member states will join he WG.

In 2018 we will continue with training sessions, first out is the planned  advanced training sessions on Behaviour Detection. I will get back as soon as possible with more information.

More or less at the same time we will invite to a Conference on Insider Threats where one part will be a joint exercise. The meeting is planned to be in cooperation with Airport Council International, Europe (ACI). The aim  is to train together, the Police and the Airport owner.

In the Autumn we also plan to offer a new set of the basic training on Insider Threat/Radicalization which we gave in May 2017. I have had a lot of requests for that course to return.

In October, preliminary on the 18-19th, we will arrange the Airpol Plenary Congress.

With these few words I wish you all a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year and see you in 2018.
